Help build an accurate, well-sourced record of ships and maritime history. We welcome original researched articles about individual vessels, ship construction, service, preservation, wrecks and the end of a ship’s working life.
What to include
Send a proposed title and your article text or a manuscript link that an editor can open without a login. Include the ship’s name and IMO or pennant number where known, relevant dates, and a short note explaining your research. Share only the document intended for review, not a whole personal drive.
Cite the sources behind factual claims, especially dates, dimensions, machinery, ownership and casualty findings. Give publication titles, authors, dates, page numbers and links where available. Prefer original records, museum or archive material, official reports and reliable specialist works. Mark uncertainty and conflicting accounts clearly; do not invent quotations or references.
Original work and image rights
Submit writing you created and have the right to offer for publication. Tell us if it has appeared elsewhere and disclose any assistance that affects authorship or verification. Do not send copied articles or material subject to confidentiality restrictions.
For every proposed image, supply its source, creator, caption and the licence or written permission allowing publication. Do not assume an image is free to use because it is online. You can also use our photo contribution page for your own photographs.
Editorial review
Submissions are reviewed for relevance, accuracy, sourcing, readability and rights. Editors may request clarification, additional evidence or revisions. We will agree the final credit and intended use before publication. Sending an article does not guarantee acceptance, publication, payment, a response or a fixed review time. Nothing is published automatically.
