A photograph can record a new name, a refit, a working port or a ship’s final voyage. Share your original ship photographs with Ships Archive and help build a better visual record.
Selected photographs are published with your chosen credit and, if you provide one, a link to your portfolio. Every submission is reviewed before anything appears on the site.
What to send
We welcome photographs of merchant ships, ocean liners, ferries, cruise ships, naval vessels, preserved ships, wrecks and ship breaking. A clear view of a vessel or a well-documented detail can both add to the record.
- Send photographs you took yourself and for which you own the copyright.
- Use one submission per ship, with a small selection of relevant photographs.
- Include the ship’s name and, where known, her IMO or pennant number, the date and the location. Say when a detail is uncertain.
- Share a direct photo or folder link that can be opened for review without a login. Include only the photographs you intend to submit, not an entire personal drive, and keep the original files.
- Mention any edits or restrictions in your notes. Do not submit images copied from other websites or AI-generated images as photographs.
Your photographs. Your credit.
You retain your copyright. If a photograph is selected, we will confirm the intended use and exact credit with you before publication.
The permission we request is non-exclusive and limited to displaying the agreed photographs on shipsarchive.com, with your credit and any portfolio link we agree. It includes resizing, compression and necessary cropping for the page layout, without misrepresenting the image. We will ask for separate permission before using your photographs elsewhere.
Submitting photographs does not guarantee publication or a particular number of views. Photographs are never published automatically.

Send your photographs
Add a link to your photographs below. This form accepts links rather than direct file uploads. If a link cannot be shared, email contact@shipsarchive.com with a description before sending large files.
Use the credit name you would like published. If the ship is unidentified, say so. Approximate dates and locations are welcome when marked as uncertain. Your portfolio link is optional. Do not include passwords or sensitive personal information in your notes.
Ships Archive uses the details you submit to assess your photographs, contact you about this submission and keep a record of any agreed permission. Your email address and private submission notes are not included in published credits. Form responses are processed through WordPress.com. Read our Privacy Policy for more information.
Thank you for your photographs.
